The Centre’s decision to postpone the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate courses in medicine (NEET-PG) fueled anger amongst medical aspirants of the year 2021.
The decision of postponing medical entrance for 2021 added gasoline, amongst the already enraged medical students and medical aspirants who were protesting against the formation of NMC.
The decision directly added momentum with the delay of NEET PG entrance tests for 2021. A certain percentage of the students are supposedly justifying the decision for increasing anxiety amongst the medical aspirants who were preparing for the examination for months. The delay of examination and utilising the services of the doctors for COVID 19 duties fuelled their anger.
According to Dr. Chinmay Akre, the President of Indian Medical Association Medical Student’s Network, such decisions discourage the honesty and hard work the students gave for years to prepare for NEET PG exam 2021.
Identifying the Center’s decision as a sheer act of exploitation with the career of the medical students and aspirants he analysed such actions have chances to affect the psyche of the doctors and the students who were preparing for the exam for the whole year.
The Regional Coordinator of State Medical Interns for Maharashtra Sohel Inamdar also showed similar criticism by defining such a notice as a move to restrict final year’s PG exam by additionally recruiting young doctors with insufficient resources.
Some senior doctors are also saying that such an unplanned move is adding unnecessary burdens causing physical and mental fatigue within patients.
