In the year 1995, Shailesh J.Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM) was established. It is a part of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

The school was renamed to Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management in the year 2000 in honor of Dr. Shailesh J. Mehta.

With a focus on science and technology, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay was established in 1958 for providing leadership in education and research.

About 34,000 students have graduated from the Institution with Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. degrees, over a period of five decades.

With an emphasis on developing all-round managerial skills, SJMSOM was established to provide leadership in the area of management education. To enhance the leadership skills of working professionals at different levels, executive MBA and MDPs are introduced at SJMSOM.

In all functional areas of management, SJMSOM has experienced and young full-time Core Faculty, who are engaged in teaching, research and outreach activities.

Eligibility for Master of Management Programme

A four year Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree in any discipline with 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in aggregate (including all years/semesters) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) out of 10.
60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in aggregate (including all years/semesters) in a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) out of 10, and who has a CA/ICWA degree.
Students appearing for the final degree examination can also apply.

Eligibility for Executive MBA programme

The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an institution of higher education and must have a minimum seven years of work experience (after completing the qualifying degree) including five years of managerial experience or equivalent.
With a commitment of employer sponsorship, the candidate must be recommended by their employer or self-employed with an ability to pay the applicable tuition fees.
He/she must have good proficiency in spoken and written English and must have functional computer skills.

Admission Procedure at SJMSOM

For Master of Management Programme

On the basis of their score in the CAT exam, candidates are shortlisted. (GMAT for international applicants).
To appear for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview, the shortlisted candidates are then invited.

The placement cell at SJMSOM is very strong. It guarantees 100% placement every year. IIT Bombay has always been a tremendous success when it comes to placement.
For the batch of 2017, the Institute concluded the final placements with the top salary offered as Rs. 29.9 lakhs.
Out of a total of 52 companies, 17 were new recruiters who participated in the placement drive. The top 30% of the batch got an average package of Rs.24.48 lakhs and the average salary was Rs.17.63 lakhs.
